Koen, this letter is about your 1st birthday! I cannot believe how fast that year went by.... and here you are, our little ONE year old..... its crazy! We decided to throw you a monster mash for your 1st birthday, because you pretty much are a little monster HAHAHA! Here are some photos of your big day! We Love you screechy!

Your Birthday party was actually the day before your "real" birthday, because it was a Sunday and more people could come that way. So on Monday (your actually Bday) Mommy and Daddy took you to the wildlife rescue and rehab centre. This is a place where injured wild animals regain their strength, where they heal and are then release back into the wild when they are able. However, some of the animals are not able to return to the wild, and have a habitat/home at the sanctuary.... it was FUN!

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY !

HAPPY BIRTHDAY my little love! I cannot believe that you are a ONE year old today.... wow! We made it ! I have so much to type about your birthday party (which we had yestarday, because more people could come that way) and I will post thoes pictures tomorrow!

Dear Screech,
Today you certainly lived up to your nickname - and then some! You screamed at me all day about everything! You wanted up, then you wanted down, then you wanted your sweater off, then you wanted milk, then you wanted the dogs, then you wanted to play, then you wanted to eat, then you .... well you get the picture, you were a very demanding boy today! I am thinking you might land yourself in a time out soon if you keep it up little boy!
Today I took you to a play group and you had fun! There was four of you and for the most part you all had a great time... except for the moment when you all started fighting over the same sippy cup! hahaha - oh to be a baby again: when your only "problem" was getting your hands on that damn sippy cup before the other kids! hahaha!
Today you also copied me and clapped your hands for the first time - I am such a proud momma! You also do the cutest thing (I have been trying to catch it on video) I kiss you on the cheek and go MMMMMMMM MWAH! and you try to copy me but end up going mmmmBAH hahahaha hehehehe its adorable! I LOVE YOU!

Changes
Koen,
Its amazing how much can change in your little life in only a week - The last letter I wrote you was on March 13th .... its only been a week and one day and you now have two front teeth !!! Well, really you have one and a half teeth, because one tooth hasnt really come down all the way... you better not bite me young man!!! hahaha! This is your first tooth - and it is bitter sweet - I wondered when you would get your first tooth and kept peeking in your mouth to see if it is there.... and now that its here, I am sad that you are growing up so fast..... on top of the two teeth coming through, you took 3 BIG steps on your own today !!!! WOW, Daddy and I both saw you do it together and we've never been so darn proud! Also, its so nice to have Daddy back from LasVegas (he was there on work) and home with us - we really missed him. While he was away, I didnt get to write much, because you consumed every waking moment hahaha! But we had a good time.... I took you out alot, to restaurants and play groups to keep us busy so we didn't miss our daddy too much. There is this one restaurant that has great food and a little fish pond to keep you busy, you love watching the fishies:

Hi my love!
Momma has been slacking! I just saw the date of the last letter I wrote to you.... it was back on Feb 24th!? I didn't think that much time had passed between that letter and this one... but I guess it has....
The reason I have not posted anything recently, is because we went on a little trip to see grandma, grandpa and GREAT grandma and GREAT grandpa. Then when we got back momma had a big photoshoot to do for some clients (gotta pay the bills too, haha) and then today you me and daddy went swimming at the pool and had lots of fun! So, I am just writing a quick I LOVE YOU and then tomorrow I will post some photos about our little trip to see the grand folks and such.

Snow Day !
Dear Screech,
Today was a SNOW day!
Today was play group and it was busy there today, despite the snow warnings everywhere! You had a great time and you love play group - you were a busy boy today, crawling all over the place!
In the top two pictures, thats you crawling after the ball with your little friend Sam (you are the one in the blue, white and green stripped sweater if you cant tell) You love the balls at play group! Especially the orange spikey one!!! After play group, you, me and Daddy all went shopping at the grocery store!
I was a bad momma and forgot your hat (not that you would wear it anyways, hahaha) so I gave you my toque to wear to keep you warm - I love you! So, if you are wondering, that is why in a few of the pictures you are wearing an oversized, pink fuzzy toque.... hahaha, its because its your momma's! Funny enough you kept it on your head though.....

Sushi Sunday
To my little boy:
If you scroll down to the bottom of this post, it will say that it is almost 2am.... and now Monday..... let me explain: after Daddy and I get you all ready for bed each night, I feed you the boob and then either daddy or I will rock you to sleep. Then we either game (lol) or like tonight, I work on my photography projects/work. I didn't get finished until 1:30am and then of course I have been itching to type you out a letter about your day today, I love you!
Today (Sunday) Daddy and I took you out on the town! We went out for SUSHI with our good friends Pat and Jerri and their Daughter Serenity (you two are good friends too by the way). You were so well behaved in the restaurant! The sushi chef came over and gave you a paper crane - but you tried to eat it, so I took it away hahaha. You and Serri absolutely loved the fake flowers that they had on the table - you each took one and were swinging them around at each other!
You really liked the look of Daddy's sushi, but you didn't really care for the taste yet. You LOVED the advocado out of Mommy's sushi and you were eating rice - as long as it had some soya sauce! I also brought you some banana and a few baby food jars to keep you busy while we were eating.

Today is Valentines Day and I am so happy to have you AND daddy as my valentines.
We didn't really do anything special today and to be honest with you, you are a bit miserable today: I think you are getting a cold and maybe even a tooth! Well that combo has made you a little cranky to say the least hahaha. Here is what you think of Valentines Day (hahaha, take a good look at the picture!)

Blueberry Milkshakes
Koen,
Today you were such a well behaved little boy! Your Grandma came for a visit and we all went out for lunch at a local restaurant.
You usually have a time limit in restaurants - you get bored and want to crawl around and play with toys - but this time, Daddy and I were able to keep you entertained with crayons, paper and blueberry milkshake!
I also ordered a side of sweet potatoe/ginger/carrot soup and it was SOOOO good.... you really loved that too - you are turning out to be a great eater! I couldn't believe how much you ate at lunch - I am not sure where you put it all, but you were a happy little boy and we love you so much!!

Today
The day started off really great! You slept in until 9 am ..... which allowed Momma and Daddy to sleep in too, YAY! Then you had breakfast and you were off to play group with Momma - we always have a good time. Today however, you didn't want to go in your carseat ...... it was a bit of a fight, but I won once I turned on your baby einstine movie (yes you have your own portbale DVD player hahaha) You LOVE these silly little movies and so we keep buying them! Then once we got to play group you were crawling all over the place playing with the toys - sorry for the bad quality picture, but it was taken with my Iphone (cellphone): 
There wasn't as many babies at play group today, maybe because there was a financial guest speaker for the mommys and so not very many mommys were interested.... I dunno just my theory!
Then the day got bad.... I was called into work - yuck- I didn't want to go, but it was easy money so I chose to go. I hate leaving you, but at least I know you are in perfect hands with your Daddy - Daddy loves you so much and I know he is very proud of you!!!! I made Daddy bring you to me on my break and we got a picture together - again it was terrible, taken on my darn phone again!!! hahaha

My little baby
Little boy, I cannot believe that you are 10 months old in just a couple of days - were does the time go? It seems to be speeding by lightening fast!
You are almost walking.
You crawl really fast now.
You say "Da Da" and "Ma Ma" and "Moo" (which I think is your kitty mufassa) and "NEH" (which is milk/breastfeeding).
You are always trying to undress yourself.... you just love to be naked! haha.
You enjoy baths and swiming at the pool.
You love to eat whatever momma and daddy are eating - you will try anything once!
You make wrestling baby crocodiles look fun and easy compared to trying to change your diaper (that is a whole other blog post in its self!) Daddy and I call it "croc rolling"
You know words and are very clever: when we ask you where is your shark? or where is the sock monkey, or where is the spider, the dog, the kitty, chewy, tava - you know them all ! Its amazing how fast you learn right now!
Today you spent the day with your Daddy - I went back to work. It was a whirl wind for me and I didn't enjoy being apart from you! I only went back for the day and will pick up a casual shift here and there for now - I am a nurse and I work with the elderly who have various forms of dementia. I called Daddy to check on you about 100 times.... I knew you were safe and well looked after 100% with Daddy, but it was the longest we've ever been apart! I made Daddy bring you to me for a visit on my lunch hour and we got to snuggle - at first you didn't even recognize me, HAHAHA! But I love the little look on your face as soon as you noticed me - oh you are the cutest thing in the world! I also got to show you around and show you off - which was fun for me! I am sorry that I dont have a picture - I forgot..... I should've taken a picture of you but I was just so happy to be holding you and seeing you that I completely forgot to take a photo.... darn.

Its a Party !
Hi Screech!
Before you were even born I had these ideas of what kind of mother I would be. I would breastfeed you, I would make you homemade baby food, I would carry you (in your moby wrap), you would co-sleep with us - either in the same bed or same room. So far I have stuck to all of these things and I am very proud of that! However, there was one rule that I broke today - twice! I am usually set in my ways with everything, but I tend to have a soft spot for thoes who are dear to me: Daddy calls it the "caramel walls" and just so you know, I had these "caramel walls" long before you came around, but you were instantly added to the elite few who can make these "walls" apear. So you are wondering what rule I broke..... I will let you guess...... this is what you did today:
We took you to a birthday party! You loved it - you loved watching all the older kids playing and climbing and running around. Then out came the cake..... when Mommy and Daddy were sharing a piece you looked up at me with thoes beautiful eyes and stuck out your tongue just slightly letting me know you wanted to taste...... well there goes that "no sugar" rule.... I caved instantly and gave you a little taste! Not surprisingly, you wanted more..... I gave you a little bit more and then it was gone. I felt a little guilty about breaking my rule - but you were so pleased with the taste of the pink icing!
Then tonight after dinner, I did it again - you had a bite of chocolate cheese cake! *sigh* oops...... there I go again, my stubborn exterior melts into these "caramel walls" the second you look up at me.
By the way - you love chocolate :) I love you so much - here is what you look like today:

Swim Club
Dear Koen,
Today Momma spent money on you .... again .... on a hat and little shoes ..... again .... I have an obsession with buying you hats, shoes and jackets!
Today Momma and Daddy took you swimming at the pool - we take you every weekend (usually on a Sunday but today it was a Saturday) You love the pool and you love to splash and watch the older kids - you are very observant.
You may find it amusing that today you discovered that you could SCREAM! Mommy and Daddy dont find it amusing, but you think it is pretty darn funny. You aren't crying. You are yelling/screaming .... you do it when you are happy, excited and frusterated ... when we are at the store and you let our one of these YELLS you get everyones attention and that makes you very amused! I will admit it is pretty funny and it made me laugh .... but it is really loud and disruptive HAHAHA!
Right now you are enjoying your evening bath with Daddy tonight - you really needed it because you had blueberries and potatoes for dinner and it is everywhere! We LOVE u !

Hi little boy! I have been meaning to create this blog for the last 10 months - but just never got around to it I guess.... you do keep us pretty busy. I wanted this to be a place that you can go back on and read about yourself : its all about you, our letters to you about you growing up - the modern day baby book hahaha! As I said, I should've started this when you were born - but to be honest with you, you were a monster and cried all the time from week 4 to week 20 ..... and I really didn't feel like doing anything but make sure you were looked after and that Daddy and I were fed and getting the few winks of sleep you would let us obtain .... you are a strong little boy, you have a strong personality, I know you will go far in your life and achieve everything you need and want - you are driven and we are already so proud of you!
Today I took you to a photography studio and took pictures of you - I already have thousands - but I cant stop ... I love photography, and well, you are just so darn cute!
Tonight Daddy fed you spaghetti for dinner - you loved it! After dinner you had a bath with momma and then you, me and Daddy sat in your room. 1. Screech: You got this nick name from momma, because thats all you did, all the time was SCREECH. So now I am always calling you my little screech or screechy.
2. Bean Boy: This one is from Daddy, because he would always talk to you when you were in my tummy and it has stuck since... we will probably still be calling you this at 16 ..... 20 ... 30 ?!?
3. Cuss: This one is also from Daddy .... you were still in momma's tummy and Daddy said "I cant wait for this little cuss" hahaha we laughed and it stuck with you.
4. Little Boy: This is what momma says to you when you are doing something bad - you hear " Little boy! not in your mouth!" about 30 times a day right now.... you are ALWAYS trying to put crap in your mouth!
